This week’s post is very special because it is a guest post by Alejandra from Aly Doom. She has a blog and a Youtube channel where she talks about cruelty-free makeup. Alejandra also has a beautifully curated Instagram feed! As I have gotten to know Alejandra, I have discovered that she has a profound love for Charlotte Tilbury products. So it was only natural for her guest post on the soulful bunny to be about her Top 10 Charlotte Tilbury products!* (You may also be happy to know that Charlotte Tilbury will soon be available at Sephora!)
Eyes To Mesmerise
The Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerise are cream eyeshadows with a metallic finish. They come in different shades that can be worn for both daytime and night looks. The longevity of the cream eyeshadows is good but it can crease on you if you have oily lids. I have oily lids and I usually don’t get creasing unless it’s a very hot day but in that case I take the shadow with me and retouch on the go because it’s worth it. My favourite shades are Rose Gold and Veruschka.
Hollywood Flawless Filter
The Hollywood Flawless Filter is a versatile product that can be worn in so many ways. This product reflects the light so beautifully to give you healthy glowy skin without shimmer. My favourite way to use it is all over my skin instead of using foundation. Another way that I love to apply it is anywhere that I would like to highlight for the most natural-looking highlight. You can mix it with your foundation as well to add extra glow. The Hollywood Flawless Filter comes in different shades – you can choose a shade similar to your skin tone, a lighter shade for more brightening effect or a darker shade for a bronzy look.
Instant Look in a Palette
The Instant Look in a Palette has 3 eyeshadows, 2 blushes, a contour and a highlight. I think the concept is great because you can create a complete look with one palette. The shades in the Beauty Glow palette are perfect for a bronzy look – they blend beautifully and last all day. This palette is great for traveling but also to wear everyday. It stays in my everyday makeup stash!
Filmstar Bronze and Glow
The Filmstar Bronze and Glow is one of the most iconic products from Charlotte Tilbury. It comes in two shades: Light to Medium and Medium to Dark. I have the shade Light to Medium and I can only wear the contour during winter. It has a beautiful neutral tone that can be used as a contour and a bronzer. It looks so pretty on the skin. The highlight is a champagne colour which blends and melts into the skin nicely without emphasising texture. It can be applied with a light hand or with a heavy hand for more intensity. The shade range selection is unfortunate – I really wish they had more shades available. However, I think this product is still worth mentioning because, if the shades work on your skin, this product will look so pretty!
Light Wonder Foundation
The Light Wonder Foundation is a lightweight foundation with light to medium coverage. It adds more coverage than a tinted moisturiser, evens out the skin tone and adds a glowy sheen to the skin. It gives you a natural dewy finish making your skin look healthy and youthful! This foundation is good for dry skin but I have oily skin and I like mixing it with matte foundations in the summer to add some glow back to the skin or I can wear it by itself during winter with no problem.
Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder
The Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder is a finely milled face powder. It will suit different types of skin from dry to oily. The formula is so fine that it melts into the skin naturally and sets your makeup. I find that no matter how much powder I put on, my skin doesn’t look cakey. I’d like to mention that if you like to bake (your face!) this product is not for you since it’s so fine and doesn’t build up enough for baking.
Matte Revolution Lipsticks
The Matte Revolution Lipsticks are hands down one of the best matte lipstick formulas out there! But the Matte Revolution Lipsticks are not completely matte – they have a light sheen. They apply smoothly without tugging your skin and don’t emphasise lines. The sharp edge of the lipstick makes it easy to apply and shape your lips. These lipsticks last a long time but they won’t last all day nor will they last through a meal. But they apply so easily that you can reapply them on the go without trouble!
The shade selection is beautiful too! Charlotte Tilbury creates beautiful nudes so everyone will be able to find their perfect nude shade. There are other bold shades like Glastonberry which is one my favourite dark berry lipsticks. My other favourite shades are Miss Kensingston, Between the Sheets and Sexy Sienna which are nudes but each of them have different undertones that look gorgeous on the lips.
The Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheats are some of the best lip liners I’ve tried. There is a good variety of colours but the shade selection for nude shades is particularly great! The liners last a long time, even through meals, and won’t dry out your lips. Like the Matte Revolution Lipsticks, the Lip Cheats glide easily and don’t tug at your skin!
My favourite shades are Pillowtalk and Pink Venus. Pillowtalk is a nude colour which I use for any lipstick shade, including darker shades, since the lipsticks go on smoothly on top of the liner without changing the colour. I really recommend checking out her lip liners!
The Retoucher is a lightweight concealer in a pen form with a brush tip on one end. The coverage is light but it can be built up to medium coverage. If you’re like me and don’t like heavy concealers, you’ll probably like The Retoucher concealer. It works great for the under eye since it minimises dark circles and moisturises the under eye area without emphasising fine lines or looking cakey. The Retoucher has a good ratio of coverage and dewiness for a natural concealer. You can wear it by itself or set it with powder if you have oily skin.
The Charlotte Tilbury Contour Wand is a liquid contour that comes in a stick form with a sponge applicator. Honestly, the packaging is not the best but the formula is worth trying! The formula is light and airy and you only need to use a very small amount. My preference is to use a brush but it also blends well with a sponge or your fingers. This product adds dimension and warmth to the face. I have the shade fair and I love this one on me because it has a perfect balance of cool and warm tone to contour and bronze in one.
