I know for a fact that my Mom will be thrilled that I'm writing this post. Ever since I started getting into makeup in my late teens, my Mom would harass me to "put some colour on your lips!". My Mom is a typical French Canadian woman who does not leave the house without her red lipstick on. And I love that about her! But it just wasn't me. I would do my eye makeup but I would never really wear anything on my lips other than lip balm. I'm 25 now and I only started liking lipstick in the last six months or so. (I know.. kinda odd, right?) I can't say that I'm fully a "French-Canadian red-lipstick-wearing-woman" yet. But I'm definitely a lot better about wanting to wear lipstick. So long story short: on some days, I wear lipstick and on others, I don't. On the days where I do wear lipstick, I'm loving the OFRA Long Lasting Liquid Lipsticks.
OFRA Long Lasting Liquid Lipsticks
OFRA makes the following claims about these lipsticks:
- Creamy and soft in texture, moisturizing the lips and creating a long lasting lipstick effect
- Color will last in a perfect condition up to five hours without eating or drinking
- It is not a lip stain and does not dry completely but remains on your lips for hours
I agree with all these statements. The formula has a creamy/moussy texture - it spreads very well on the lips. I do agree that they are long lasting and can last up to a few hours. However, they are not transfer-proof. If you drink or eat something, the lipstick will transfer and you will need to reapply afterwards. I talk about each individual shade below but, overall, the quality is consistent in all four colours that I have. I think they work best with two coats but you could get away with just one coat for some of the colours. I would suggest letting the lipstick dry in between coats.
The only negative thing that I have to say about these lipsticks is the price. They retail for $19.90 USD each, which a lot of money for a lipstick... especially given the current exchange rate which brings the price of one lipstick up to $27 CAD! My suggestion is to sign up for their newsletter and/or follow them on Instagram so you can find out when they are having sales. I bought all mine for 50% off during a sale and I definitely think that it was worth it. If you don't want to wait for a sale, some youtubers have discount codes for OFRA that you can use. (For example, check out Kathleen Lights' description box for her codes.)
Mocha - This is a mauve colour with a slight brown undertone. Very nice neutral colour!
Americano - This is my first brown lipstick ever. And I love it!
Havana Nights - This is a dark red with a dark brown undertone. This shade definitely needs two coats. The first coat is patchy and the colour is more of a berry shade. The second coat is needed to give it the intensity you see in the picture. This colour was created in collaboration with Kathleen Lights.
Miami Fever - This is a burnt orange colour with a slight brown/reddish undertone. This one is my favourite! It is such a unique shade and I get lots of compliments on it. [See picture above] This shade was also created with Kathleen Lights.
