First off, Happy New Year to all of you! I hope that your 2018 is off to a great start. While the new year is great for fresh starts, I would like to take a little look back at 2017 and tell you about my favourite beauty products from this past year. As always, everything I mention on the soulful bunny is cruelty-free and vegan.
I am not typically a fan of lip glosses and, before this one, I had not purchased a lip gloss in years. My issue with most glosses is that they are uncomfortable and make you feel like you have just applied sticky glue to your lips. However, this Glossy Lip in the shade Aquarius has changed my mind about lip glosses! It makes my lips look plump and hydrated and the rosy nude shade goes well with almost everything.
I have fallen in love with this mascara this year and it has quickly become my everyday go-to mascara! It truly does lengthen and volumize my lashes. And the best part is that you don’t have to break the bank: this mascara is only $3!!
2017 is the year of Coloupop for me! I have been so impressed with the level of quality of these products and the affordable prices. This highlighter in the shade Flexitarian is my makeup highlight of the year (get it?! I just had to throw a bad pun in here). But seriously, this highlighter can look very wearable if you use a light hand or it can be blinding if you want to go all out. It just depends on your preference.
I had high expectations for this foundation when I first tried it out and it did not disappoint me. I have combination skin and many foundations will cling to the dry patches on my face. But I do not have this issue with this foundation. It makes my skin look flawless! I do not wear it everyday because it is a full coverage foundation but I love it for special occasions.
My favourite liquid lipstick from 2017 is this OFRA lipstick in Miami Fever. Not only is the formula very comfortable, but this colour is so unique! I love these kinds of warm-toned burnt orange shades. You can read my full thoughts and see swatches of these liquid lipsticks here!
Favourite Skincare & Body Care
This facial mask is amazing! It gently exfoliated my skin and left it feeling very soft. It also detoxed my pores without irritating or drying out my skin. I personally like to use a facial mask about once per week but this mask is gentle enough that you could probably use it more often if you wanted to. I also like that it has very few ingredients and all are very natural: French white and pink clay, rosehip powder, ground comfrey root, and organic rose geranium essential oil.
I have already mentioned this product in a previous post so I won’t go too much into detail here but this body wash is perfect for my sensitive and irritated skin. You can read my full thoughts on this product here!
This body lotion is incredible! It is gentle and hydrating without being greasy. I purchased it when I was having a flare-up of urticaria and my skin was extremely irritated. This lotion was so gentle that it did not burn my skin when I applied it to areas where I had cuts caused by too much scratching. I love it so much that I have already purchased another pot of this!
Again, I have mentioned this product in a previous post but it just had to make it into my 2017 favourites. Find out why I love this face wash in this post!
I am so happy that I discovered this toothpaste in 2017. Not only is it cruelty-free and vegan but it is also very effective at countering my dentin sensitivity. In addition, Green Beaver is a Canadian brand based in Hawkesbury! So I’m very happy to support a local cruelty-free brand.
What were your favourite beauty products in 2017? I’d love to check them out if I haven’t already.
